Lookin4Galt

Cammack put me onto this a few months ago. Lookin 4 Galt is a documentary on Canadian (woot woot ) composer Galt Mcdermot who is known mostly for composing the music for the 1967 musical Hair, which has been translated in every language and has been performed all over the world. In 1960 he won a Grammy for his song "African Waltz". MacDermot has also crafted many  jazz and funk albums, classical music, and his music over the last couple of decades has been sampled by many hip hop artists such as Run DMC  who sampled the Hair song “Where Do I Go?” for  “Down with the King”.   Oh No 's 2006 Exodus into Unheard Rhythms album was produced completely with MacDermot samples. J Dilla used Macdermot’s “Golden Apples (Part II)” from The Nucleus  for “Mash” on Donuts. That's just a few examples the list of artists who have sampled his music is crazy, check it:  Artifacts, Busta, AZ, Pete Rock,  Doom, Nas, OC, CunninLynguists, Poor Righteous Teachers, Saian Supa Crew, Rugged Intellect, Declaime, Beatnuts, Gangstarr, Masta Ace, Buckshot and 9th Wonder, Quasimoto, Handsome Boy Modelling School, Lone Catalysts, and Rah Digga. I am quite sure there are some that I missed, if that may be the case you can still  get the idea of  how much  Macdermot's work has contributed to many classic hip hop joints.
Lookin4Galt was made by the people of Gasface which is a self contained production company who is made up of  Nicolas Venancio and Mathieu Rochet and are based out of France. GasFace are web documentary makers that creatively conduct very interactive interviews combining music, media, technology, culture, and storytelling. They are responsible for the web documentary mini series NY Minute which is also dope and worth checking out. The boys of Gasface head to New York in search of the ever elusive Macdermot who has been living off the grid for quite sometime now. Throughout their search they talk to many artists in hopes to getting one step closer to Macdermot. Its a very interactive and interesting documentary for any one who is interested in production.
